BioBoost™ – beating yesterday to boost your future health
BioBoost™ – beating yesterday to boost your future health.
Every day, you engage in behaviors that may have a positive or negative impact on your health. Typically, one day (or even a few days) of a certain behavior will not have long-term consequences; however, repeated patterns of behavior over time can have significant effects on your long-term health and wellness. For this reason, it is important to establish behavioral patterns that promote health and longevity. Want to beat yesterday? Introducing: LifeQ BioBoost.
What is a BioBoost™?
LifeQ BioBoost is a tool to help you develop healthier patterns and ultimately turn them into daily habits. In short, BioBoost is a score (0-100) that indicates how your daily behavior may impact your long-term health and wellness. For example, when you engage in healthy behaviors, you will achieve higher BioBoost scores, and the opposite is true when you engage in unhealthy behaviors – you can expect lower BioBoost scores.
How does BioBoost work?
Within LifeQ Health, our comprehensive health app, you will see several BioBoost scores each day: an overall BioBoost and more specific BioBoost values (e.g., Sleep, Activity). At the start of each day (at midnight, to be specific), these scores reset to zero. Over the course of the day, as LifeQ monitors your behavior, your BioBoost™ scores will dynamically update. When you participate in healthy behaviors, you will gain points on your BioBoost; when you participate in unhealthy behaviors, you will not gain points (and may even lose points). At the end of the day, your final BioBoost score is saved, and your BioBoost resets to zero for the next day. Your BioBoost scores from past days are visible on the BioBoost Trend View, so you can track your behavioral patterns over time.
Which features are used to calculate BioBoost™?
Each BioBoost is calculated on a different set of features. In order to help you better direct your behavior to reach your goals, these features have been categorized into various “components” per BioBoost. For example, the Activity BioBoost includes Activity Minutes, Activity Pattern, Non-sedentary Time, and Steps components. In order to maximize your BioBoost score, you need to pay attention to all the components. Although the LifeQ Health App is able to give you more personalized insights, some generally applicable behaviors that will positively impact your BioBoost include: getting enough good quality sleep, participating in moderate and high-intensity exercise activities, staying active throughout the day, practicing conscientious training and recovery, maintaining a healthy sleep schedule and environment, and breaking up sedentary time.
What is a “good” BioBoost value?
Since the BioBoost values reset each morning, it is totally normal for your BioBoost to be low at the start of the day. You should, however, aim to increase your BioBoost throughout the day. Since some BioBoost values take into account behavior from previous days, it may not always be possible to achieve a score of 100 every day. Nevertheless, you should always aim to obtain a score above 50 by the end of the day, and the more often you get scores close to 100, the better for your long-term health.
